Out & About On Tybee

We here on TybeeIslandshare the month of December with the 30 days of Queen Roma HarperRoma turned 80 years young and with a little help from her friends, celebrated in grand style. Over 100 people showed up at Marlin Monroe’s to wish her happy birthday.  As usual, owner Jenny Orr and her staff provided excellent service and food.  Our beloved Mayor, Jason read Roma’s proclamation. He read quite a few “where as’s.”  Judy O’Neill assisted with the fascinating facts about Roma. Did you know-Roma is very well educated a fact she never mentions. We all know people who constantly talk about themselves (you know who you are). Mayor Pro-tem Wanda Doyle gave Roma the Key to the City. Everyone came to wish Roma well. People willingly took the microphone and talked about meeting Roma. People who have known her for 40 years spoke and people who she met a few months ago spoke.  Roma truly had a Queen’s Birthday party.

Have any of you seen retired police Chief Jimmy Price?  He looks fabulous!  He is a boat captain, and his wife, Queen Claire, looks elegant as always.

A young 19 old man had a grand-mal seizure and he stopped breathing. His mother was in shock paralyzed by fear. John hears the mother’s screams and investigates the commotion. John starts rescue breathing and tells someone to call 911. John works on the patient until EMS arrives. Due to John’s quick action and calm nerves a life was saved. John is real-life hero.

The Quarter had a Christmas Pool Tournament. The lovely Brenda Carter went through considerable trouble to get the photo in the Breeze. The photo refused to download.  I will call Don Ernst the computer guru and publish the photo in the next issue. These are our Christmas Pool Tournament participants: Marilyn Tuten, Michelle Gillikin, Bruce Freyermuth, Jerry Warren, Daniel Tuberville, Dustin Shealy, Micheal Hudson & Mike West.

Gloria “the bird lady” had surgery, and she is home from the hospital.  The staff at St. Joe’s did a great job. Special thanks to Charlie for his steadfastness to Gloria.

This is Margaret Handleman and her daughter Hillary.  Margaret fell 8 feet in her home and lived to tell the story. Her family and we her friends are grateful. She’s out of the hospital and home with your loving family were she belongs.

Speaking of health scares… Tybee’s favorite picture framing jock, Mark Robinson, had a heart attack.  After a trip toMemorialHospital and placement of a stint, he was released to his relieved wife Debbie.

Michael Elliott is in love (again)!

On Tybee we have many loving couples, in anticipation of Love month here are several… If you would like your love represented please e-mail your photo with commentary to ebonyhag@aol.com.
